Certified TAB Facilitator

Steven Fishman

Across nearly three decades of experience in business management and IT consulting, Steve Fishman has always believed that the first step to solving any business challenge is building a good team.

So it makes sense that Steve was recruited in early 2017 as lead facilitator and owner of the new Detroit Metro South branch of The Alternative Board. TAB employs a team-based methodology that uses business coaching and peer advisory boards to help business leaders identify new, creative solutions to challenges faced in expanding or transitioning their business or growing profits.

Steve specifically targets small- to medium-size businesses, problem-solving with business owners to make informed, tactical decisions. From his experience as an owner of a large, family-run printing company to his involvement in the tech industry as IT Director for Volunteers of America and team lead with All Covered, Steve has a toolbox stocked with leadership tactics – from visioning and long-range planning, to budgeting and team development, to business analysis and forecasting, to client relations and corporate culture.

Competent and compassionate, he is able to reframe problems and guide business owners around the toughest obstacles. Rather than offering opinions, Steve uses his business acumen to guide leaders toward informed, thoughtful decisions that help them to improve and excel.

While Steve’s past roles in executive, strategic and operational arenas have yielded successes at a range of businesses, from large non-profits to small entrepreneurial ventures, his wanderlust in earlier years also was formative to who he is today: intuitively curious and a consummate seeker of knowledge. He has picked pears in Israel, processed salmon on an Alaskan barge, worked security at the Aspen Airport, and taught at a private school where he was voted favorite teacher multiple times.

While those intrepid experiences are integral to Steve’s history, his roots are in Michigan, where he has spent most of his professional life living and working in metro Detroit. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Michigan State University, and is involved with a variety of community and school organizations, civic associations, and networking groups.
